Subliminally holds genuinely personal things — your voice, your journal, what you're working through. This policy tries to be specific about what actually happens to them. Short version: your content is private to your account, we don't sell it, we don't use it to train AI models, and you can delete all of it yourself at any time.
Subliminally by FTHR ("Subliminally," "we," "us") is a wellness and personal-development app from For The Hopeful Romantics (FTHR), operated by Adaku LLC. This policy covers subliminallybyfthr.com and the Subliminally iOS and Android apps. Our Terms of Use govern everything else about the Service.
Almost everything below is something you give us on purpose, by using a feature. We don't buy data about you, and we don't collect anything from you when you're not using Subliminally.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Email and password | To create and secure your account. Your password is hashed by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see it in plain text. |
| Name and email from Google | Only if you choose to sign in with Google instead of a password. Google tells us your email address and name; we get nothing else from your Google account, and no password. |
| Username | The name you choose for yourself in the app. It's unique across Subliminally, so we check whether a name is taken when you pick one. |
We do not ask for your phone number, your address, your date of birth, or your location.
When you set up your account we ask a short series of optional questions, and store your answers on your profile so the app can speak in your language rather than someone else's:
These shape what things are called, which affirmations are generated, and which habits are suggested. They don't change what you can do or what anything costs, and you can skip every one of them, or change them later.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Saved subliminals | The affirmations you wrote, the frequency, ambience, binaural beat, voice and length you chose, and any cover image you added — so your library reopens exactly as you built it. |
| Voice recordings | Affirmations recorded in your own voice, stored so your session can play them back. |
| Journal entries | Gratitude and manifestation entries, typed or spoken. A spoken entry is stored as an audio recording, with its length. |
| Photos of your journal pages | If you use the Daily log: the photo of your handwritten page, any caption, and the date you gave it. |
| Habits and check-ins | Your morning and night habit names and icons, their order, and which days you marked them done — this is what your streaks are made of. |
| Uploaded audio tracks | If you use the custom track feature, the audio file you upload. |
| Support messages and ideas | What you write when you contact us through the app, along with your account email so we can reply. |
We store which plan you're on and whether it's active, keyed to your account. We never receive or store your card number — see section 5.
Voice recordings, spoken journal entries, photos of your journal pages, cover images and uploaded tracks are kept in private storage, in a folder belonging to your account. Access is enforced at the database level: your account can reach your folder and no one else's. Nothing is public, and there are no public links. When the app needs to play or show one of these files, it creates a temporary signed link that expires shortly afterwards.
We don't listen to your recordings, read your journal, or look at your photos. We would only ever access them if you asked us to in order to investigate a problem you reported, or if we were legally compelled to. Nothing in this category is used for anything other than giving it back to you.
The app asks for your microphone only when you choose to record — an affirmation, a spoken journal entry, or a voice sample — and for your camera or photo library only when you choose to add a photo of a journal page or a cover image. You can decline both and still use the rest of the app.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising. We do not use your content to train AI models. We don't profile you or make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
We use a small number of service providers, each receiving only what it needs to do its job. They process it on our behalf, under their own terms and privacy policies.
| Provider | What it does, and what it receives |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts and authentication, our database, and private file storage. This is where your profile, saved subliminals, journal, habits, recordings and photos actually live. |
| Vercel | Hosts the website and the small server functions the app calls. |
| Anthropic | Generates affirmation, EFT and visualization text. Receives what you typed about your goal or struggle, plus the tone and frequency you chose — not your name, email, or account. See section 6. |
| ElevenLabs | Generates studio-voice audio, and clones your voice if you ask it to. Receives the line of text to be spoken, and — for cloning — the voice sample you recorded. See section 6. |
| Stripe | Payments and subscription billing for purchases made on the website. Stripe collects and holds your card details directly; we never receive them. |
| Apple App Store & Google Play | Sell and bill subscriptions purchased inside the iOS and Android apps, under their own privacy policies. We receive your subscription status, never your payment details. |
| RevenueCat | Keeps track of app-store subscription status across your devices. Receives your account identifier and purchase records — not your name, email, or any of your content. |
| Only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only for that sign-in. | |
| Resend | Sends our account emails, and delivers support messages and ideas you submit to our inbox. |
We don't share your information with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if we're legally required to — for example in response to a valid legal request — or where it's necessary to protect the rights or safety of our users, the public, or us. If Subliminally is ever involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that, and we'll tell you before it becomes subject to a different policy.
Two features send some of your content to a provider in order to produce what you asked for. Both are things you trigger deliberately.
When you ask for affirmations, an EFT tapping script or a visualization script, we send Anthropic what you typed about what you want help with, along with the tone and frequency you selected. The generated lines come back to you and are stored with your session if you save it. Your name, email and account identifier are not sent, and Anthropic does not use this to train its models.
If you choose a studio voice or your own cloned voice, the line of text to be spoken is sent to ElevenLabs, which returns the audio. If you choose to clone your voice, the voice sample you record is sent to ElevenLabs, which creates a voice for your account; we store only the resulting voice identifier on your profile, not the sample. Only you can use your cloned voice. Cloning again replaces the previous voice, and the old one is deleted at the provider.
When you delete your account, or remove your cloned voice, we delete it at ElevenLabs too — a copy of your voice should not outlive the account that made it.
Affirmations recorded in your own voice, and spoken journal entries, are not sent to any AI provider. They're stored and played back as they are.
Subliminally has no analytics provider. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no third-party tracker and no session recording on the website or in the app. We don't track you across other sites or apps.
The app does note internally when you view a paywall or tap a locked feature, but those notes stay in your browser's memory for the current page only and are never transmitted anywhere.
We don't set cookies. The app uses your browser's or device's local storage for a handful of small, functional things:
Clearing your browser or app storage removes all of these, and signs you out.
We keep your account information and your content for as long as your account exists, because that content is the product — your library and your journal are meant to still be there next year. You can delete any individual recording, entry, photo, habit or saved subliminal from within the app at any time, and it is removed.
When you delete your account, everything described in section 9 is deleted immediately rather than kept for a retention period. Support messages and ideas you've sent us may remain in our email records. Billing and tax records held by Stripe, Apple or Google are retained by those providers under their own policies and legal obligations, and are outside our control.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from Profile → Your account → Delete my account, on the web or in the app. You don't need to email us or wait for us to act.
Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes:
This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore a deleted account. Please also note that deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel it first through Stripe, the App Store or Google Play, or you may continue to be charged.
If deletion ever fails partway through, the app will tell you, and emailing hello@subliminallybyfthr.com will get it finished by hand.
Traffic between your device and us is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and never stored in readable form. Your files sit in private storage with per-account access rules enforced by the database, and are served only through short-lived signed links. The keys that can act on any account live on our servers, never in the app.
No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we take reasonable and appropriate steps, and if a breach ever affected your personal information we'd notify you as the law requires.
Subliminally is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16 — we don't do either for anyone, at any age. If you believe a child has given us information, email hello@subliminallybyfthr.com and we'll delete it promptly.
Wherever you live, you can exercise all of the rights below by emailing hello@subliminallybyfthr.com — we extend them to everyone rather than only where they're legally required. Most of them you can also simply do yourself in the app.
If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA gives you the rights above, plus the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information and to opt out of sale or sharing.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising — so there is nothing to opt out of, and we have no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link because we do neither. We collect the categories described in section 2, from you, for the purposes in section 4, and disclose them to the service providers in section 5 for business purposes only. Some of what you give us — such as voice recordings and the contents of your journal — may be treated as sensitive personal information; we use it only to provide the Service back to you, and never to infer characteristics about you, which means the right to limit its use doesn't change anything about how we handle it.
You may use an authorized agent to make a request. We'll verify a request against the email on your account before acting on it, and we'll respond within the time the law allows. Other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws grant similar rights, and we honor them the same way.
Subliminally is operated from the United States, and your information is processed there and in other countries where our service providers operate.
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this policy and the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active users by email or in the app before they take effect.
Questions about your data, this policy, or a request about your information? Email hello@subliminallybyfthr.com and a real person will read it.
